दीपक से अधिक मूल्यवान होता है प्रकाश
पांडुलिपियों से अधिक मूल्यवान 
होती हैं कविताएं
और अधरों से अधिक मूल्यवान होते हैं
उन पर रचे गए चुंबन।

तुमसे ..
मुझसे..
हम दोनों से..
बहुत अधिक मूल्यवान हैं मेरे प्रेमपत्र।
वे ही तो हैं वे दस्तावेज
जिनसे आने वाले समय में
जान पाएंगे लोगबाग
कि कैसा रहा होगा तुम्हारा सौंदर्य
और कितना मूल्यवान रहा होगा मेरा पागलपन।
तुम्हें जब कभी 
जब भी कभी
तुम्हें मिल जाए वह पुरुष
जो परिवर्तित कर दे
तुम्हारे अंग-प्रत्यंग को कविता में।
वह जो कविता में गूंथ दे
तुम्हारी केश राशि का एक-एक केश।

जब तुम पा जाओ कोई ऐसा
ऐसा प्रवीण कोई ऐसा निपुण
जैसे कि इस क्षण मैं
करा  रहा हूं कविता के जल से तुम्हें स्नान
और कविता के आभूषणों से ही कर रहा हूं
तुम्हारा श्रंगार।

अगर ऐसा हो कभी 
तो मान लेना मेरी बात
अगर सचमुच ऐसा हो कभी
मान रखना मेरे अनुनय का
तुम चल देना उसी के साथ बेझिझक निस्संकोच।

महत्वपूर्ण यह नहीं है
कि तुम मेरी हो सकीं अथवा नहीं
महत्वूपूर्ण यह है
कि तुम्हें होना है कविता का पर्याय।
