Alex Lashkevich is a Russian artist known for his vibrant and expressive paintings. He was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1964.
Artistic Career and Style
Lashkevich's artistic journey began with a strong foundation in a traditional art education. He graduated from the Ioganson Art College at the Repin Academy of Fine Arts and later with honors from the Repin Academy's Faculty of Architecture in 1989. This architectural background is often reflected in his art through a strong sense of structure and composition.
His style is often described as Neo-Impressionist, characterized by energetic brushstrokes and a skillful use of light to create a sense of mood and atmosphere. While he has a passion for classic techniques, his work is also known for its modern and emotional feel. He is particularly celebrated for his portraits of women and fashionable illustrations set in historical scenes, which are filled with beauty, passion, and a soft, melancholic touch.
After a period working in business, he returned to painting full-time in 2008. His works are now held in numerous private collections around the world, and he continues to live and work in St. Petersburg.
